Every month of the year there are special days to commemorate different events. In this month of July we have National Bikini Day, National Kathryn Day, Bastille Day, St Swithins Day, Nelson Mandala International Day amongst others, but the one that stands out for me is “Don't Step on a Bee Day”.
"Don't Step on a Bee Day" raises awareness about the importance of bees and their significant role in the environment. As pollinators, bees play a crucial part in the growth of plants and the production of food, contributing to worldwide biodiversity. They encourage us to take action in protecting bees and promoting their well-being, such as planting bee-friendly flowers, providing homes for bees, and supporting local beekeepers.
In the United Kingdom, bees face numerous challenges that threaten their populations, including habitat loss due to urbanisation, widespread pesticide use, and climate change. Such challenges have caused the populations of certain species, such as the Great Yellow bumblebee, to decline. "Don't Step on a Bee Day" is of particular importance to the UK, as it highlights the vital role bees play in British agriculture and the need for public support in ensuring their survival.

Bees are mentioned multiple times in the Bible. Bees in a swarm are often viewed as a prophetic occurrence. In the story of Samson, bees appear in the carcass of a lion he killed, symbolizing a victorious triumph over evil.
L. L. Langstroth, the father of American beekeeping, said “the Creator may be seen in all the works of His hands; but in few more directly than in the wise economy of the Honey-Bee.”
Honey and honey bees are used as images to convey God's blessings, God's love, strength, wisdom, things of great worth and even references to Christ. The honey bee is the only insect that produces food eaten by man. Honey is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals and water.
We thank God for someone who uniquely gives to life to all humans who ask. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Only One who came into to this world to provide spiritual food suitable for every one. He is the One who declared “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty."
When Jesus told the hungry crowds that he was the Bread of Life, He was teaching that He alone was their true source of spiritual life, both in this present world and in the everlasting life to come. It is through His death on the cross as God’s perfect sacrifice for sin and His resurrection three days later that we can now have eternal life if we believe in Him. Solomon in the book of Proverbs advises us to:
Trust in the LORD with all our heart, and not to lean on our own understanding.
