Happiness is contagious, so if you are happy, tell someone! If someone else is happy, listen to them! National Happiness Happens Day is an annual event and is all about unlimited happiness. What more could you possibly want from a day? A day about sharing one’s happiness and bringing a lot of joy to other people’s lives.
National Happiness Happens Day encourages happiness throughout the whole day. It is about recognizing every moment of pleasure, delight, and sheer joy. Don’t let these moments pass. After all, they are extra special!
Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American 19th-century philosopher, once said: “For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” We certainly agree with him!
Another element of the day is about not squashing other people’s happiness. If we are all honest, there have been moments whereby we are irritated by other people’s happiness. This could be simply because we are not having a very good day. It could be because their happiness reminds us of a moment in our lives when we were unhappy. Whatever the reason, it can happen!
Nevertheless, it is important to realize that our bad days do not give us the right to squash another person’s happiness. Instead, we should allow their happiness to make us feel that way. Their smile can make us smile, and the same goes in the other direction as well. If you notice someone else who is down, you can try to make them smile.
To find true happiness, we must look to the Lord Jesus, find beauty in His character, fall in love with His work, and stand in awe at what He has done for us and the future we can have in Him. Only in Him can we have real joy.
Psychologists say that people need three things to make them happy.
1. Something to do.
2. Something to love.
3. Something to look forward to.
Scripture agrees with this.
However, to be truly happy and satisfied, we must ensure that we are doing the right thing, loving the right thing, and looking forward to the right thing. There are many Scriptures that show us what to do, what to love and what to look forward to. Can I suggest today that you read the words of The Gospel of John chapter 14, verses 1 to 21 and embrace the truth for yourself?
Here are the questions and the answers:-
What to do?
Trust in Jesus as your Saviour and get busy for Him.
What to love?
Love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself.
What to look forward to!
Look forward to Christ’s return and spending eternity with Him!
The old song says:
Happiness is to know the Saviour
Living a life within His favour
Having a change in my behaviour
Happiness is the Lord
Happiness is a new creation.
Jesus and me in close relation
Having a part in His salvation
Happiness is the Lord
Happiness is to be forgiven
Living a life that's worth the livin'
Taking a trip that leads to heaven
Happiness is the Lord
