You'll never walk alone - LFC Anthem

Liverpool Football Club Anthem

The words 'You'll never walk alone' are well known to every Liverpool fan. Those of us who live in the city see the symbol of Liverpool Football Club so often that we probably often forget that this is the motto.

‘You’ll never walk alone - when you walk through a storm hold your head up high’
We all face storms in life. No one said that life would be smooth and easy. But why is it like this? The Bible states that it is because of evil and sin. ‘By one man sin entered into the world and death by sin so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned’.(1)

‘You’ll never walk alone - don't be afraid of the dark’.
I think most of us would admit that we have fears. Have you a fear of heights, creepy crawlies or are you afraid of the unknown. We try to conquer our fears but there are some things we find difficult to cope with. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to die for us on a cross to remove the fear of death and to give us eternal life (2).

‘You’ll never walk alone – walk on walk on with hope in your heart’.
Do you have hope in your heart? What gives you hope? A person who has turned to God and is forgiven is said to have ‘a sure and steadfast hope’ (3). That’s a lot better than worrying about the future! The Christian’s future is guaranteed because the God who cannot lie (4) promises peace with God now and eternity in heaven for all who ‘call upon the name of the Lord’ (5).

‘You’ll never walk alone’
For most of us this is not always true. At times we have been lonely and didn’t know where to turn. God loves us and ‘commends his love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us’(6). We do not need to be alone because God wants to be with us in every circumstance we face.

‘You’ll never walk alone - at the end of the storm is a golden sky and the sweet silver song of the lark’
I wonder if you are sure that there will be a sweet silver song for you? Or that there is a golden sky at the end of the storm. Sometimes song writer’s lyrics express dreams and deep desires. Sometimes it’s not reality! But in this case it could be. Eternal life in heaven is guaranteed to those who come to God through the Lord Jesus.

We would love you to know the blessing of God's salvation; to know the joy of your sins forgiven. It is possible to never feel entirely alone again; to have the guarantee of heaven and escape the judgment of hell. But it comes at a cost. The cost was paid by the death of the Lord Jesus. He is only one who can deliver what he promises.
